    Benefits
AKA offers a generous array of benefits. Our cafeteria-style benefits package offers medical, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance; medical and dependent-care reimbursement accounts; profit-sharing, and 401K plans; and a liberal vacation policy. To encourage the continuous education of our employees, we offer educational assistance with the objective of professional licensing in architecture or engineering. AKA employees have the opportunity to advance to management positions and ownership of AKA stock. In order to best accommodate the multi-faceted lives of our employees, we offer flexible scheduling of work hours, telecommuting, and a business casual dress policy.

    Orientation
New employees experience a thorough orientation to the company. Orientation sessions include information regarding our benefits programs and computer and phone systems; CAD training, when applicable; and a departmental orientation to acclimate new employees with their group.

AKA Workspace - An Ideal Work Environment
AKA headquarters are in the Albert Kahn Building, an Art Deco-style, 10-story building designed by Albert Kahn in 1931 and located in Detroit’s attractive up-town New Center Area.

Arranged to support a diverse mixture of market-oriented focus groups and project teams, AKA’s facilities are organized to be as flexible as our clients’ changing needs. Pleasant and efficient working areas are complemented by visual elements such as plants, color, and artwork. Photographs of AKA projects are mounted throughout the office to illustrate current technology and achievements.

AKA provides a smoke-free workplace to enhance the health and well-being of our employees.

    Office Locations
In addition to our Detroit, Michigan headquarters, AKA has offices in Birmingham, Alabama and Sao Paulo, Brazil.

    Mentorship
An effective mentorship program also serves as an integral part of our corporate culture. New employees select a mentor after their first few months of employment. After meeting with their technical director, mentors and mentees meet to define goals and aspirations for the coming year. Especially designed to benefit our junior architects and engineers, the partnerships enable first-hand training from in-house “experts”, career direction from one who has “been there”, and greater familiarity with our company. Additionally, AKA's Professional Development Team (PDT) facilitates career growth opportunities and interdisciplinary education among emerging professionals.

    Variety of Opportunities
AKA’s project diversity facilitates employees’ ability to gain experience in multiple market segments, including industrial, health care, commercial, financial, urban design and planning, and R&D technology. We firmly believe that the quality of our technology and training, unique project mix, and most importantly, the employees themselves, provide a rewarding employment experience for all.

AKA is an Equal Opportunity Employer, M/F/D/V.
