Employee Events AKA is a fun place to work. Each year, the firm presents several events for employees to enjoy. These include the Dinner Dance, an elegant evening of fine dining, dancing and entertainment; the AKA Picnic, which features food, fun and games for all; the ever-popular Golf Outing, and the end-of-year, festive Holiday Party.
AKA’s up-town-Detroit location comes in handy during the New Center Area’s “Tastefest” event, an annual food extravaganza of 35 Michigan restaurants – conveniently held only a block away!
AKA also occasionally hosts Continental Breakfasts to introduce new employees and allow all staff to reacquaint themselves with one another. Monthly lunches and birthday celebrations with the Board give employees a chance to tell upper management what’s on their minds – and take a break from the daily grind.
Project Site Tours give employees the opportunity to tour select, select projects in the area as they near completion. These tours offer all employees the chance to see the results of our hard work, while hearing from representatives of the specific AKA team.
Improving Ourselves The AKA Facilitators, a group of specially trained meeting facilitators, make sure that meetings at AKA are timely, productive and a good use of everyone’s time. AKA’s Toastmaster’s Club (“Kahn We Talk”) allows interested employees a forum to sharpen their public speaking skills.
Sports! AKA employees are invited to participate in a number of teams, which includes everything from soccer, to softball, to hockey to bowling.
Helping the Community When it comes to reaching out to our community to help those less fortunate, AKA employees step up to the plate in a big way.
The bi-annual AKA Blood Drive for the American Red Cross has been in place since the 1960s and is an astounding success, year after year. The annual holiday charity project immediately puts employees in a holiday spirit, exhibited by their generous donations of clothing, toys, food and money for the less fortunate. AKA employees also donate to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, which is working to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease, and a variety of other charities throughout the year.
AKA is also one of the leading supporters for the United Way Community Services program which helps more than 1.5 million residents in Detroit and Southeast Michigan. Our generosity helps United Way ensure that health and human services are provided by more than 133 agencies, 120 special summer programs, 4,000 camperships, and numerous other community-wide educational and volunteer efforts.
